Arunk has quite an extensive writeup on Ragas and Scales (Part 2). There is also a Ragas and Scales (Part 1). I have not read through both of them, yet. After that comes understanding, assimilation and all that stuff. Too much work on my part
So, my idea is to just listen to Carnatic and leave all that analysis stuff out for those that can figure it out. I plan to stick to that idea.

ha-ha
! Your plan is indeed a sound one. I do realize that ramble on stuff very few people give a hoot about.
PS: btw, you should perhaps have added “Worth a chuckle!” tag to this post too

Arun, it might be rambling to me since I am uninitiated in the nuances. I find all the discussions about mUrchanas, gamakams, swara-level-decomposition of alapanais, breaking down tani avartanam to its constituent parts and different gatis, etc. to be quite involved and well over my head.
So I have it as a goal to just listen and appreciate. With all my preferences & prejudices. And my preferences change as time goes by as well.
